Every year since 1970, 22nd April is commended as World Earth Day to exhibit support for the well-being of the Earth and raise awareness about environmental protection.
Students of Nursery, Prep and class 1 celebrated with a week full of activities like the musical puppet show, nature walk, colouring competition, video clippings and art and craft activities with their hand prints, reiterating the importance of the Earth day. Classes 2 and 3 had discussions and sang various songs on mother Earth.They also segregated waste material for decomposition.Class 3 also reinforced the above by switching off lights and planting saplings.
Students of class 4 and 5 held an interactive session on how to make paper mache. Children were made aware of this alternative technique to reuse and recycle paper.An intra section competition on Reuse, Recreate for sustainability was organized.They Reused old t-shirts in a creative way, painting and pasting patches.
Andy Warhol once said, “Earth really is the best art.” It has now become our prerogative to save our planet, because if not us, then who? There might not be a next generation to rely on.
