Message from the Chairman, DPS Society

I heartily congratulate Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram for organizing yet another DPSMUN conference to be held from 22nd - 24th November 2008 at the India Habitat Centre.

"Open-mindedness is the essence of successful diplomacy - the ability to understand and analyze all positions, including those that you oppose and personally disagree with". DPSMUN is designed to furnish a structure and forum for young delegates to represent the role of another nation's delegation to the United Nations. In the process, the students realize the difficulties and complexities of international relations.

The simulations in the various committees aim at achieving three goals: to promote interest and understanding of the working of the United Nations; to help students gain a broader view of global issues from a perspective outside of the classroom; and to encourage research and investigation into the field of international studies.

I believe that young people have a unique voice and imagination that the world needs to hear. Even the smallest act can bring about a change in today's world. The MUN experience will prove crucial as you assume leadership roles in the twenty-first century and help establish a more peaceful and just world.

I wish the conference all the best.

Mr. Ashok Chandra
