Eligibility Criteria

Students in the age group of 15-18 years are eligible. (Classes IX to XII)

Country Selection

Each participating school must refer to the Country Representation Matrix and choose the country it wishes to represent. Three country preferences may be indicated in the Registration Form. A school can represent maximum of two countries. Initially all schools will be alloted only one country. However, the request for the second country will be put on wait list. The final discretion in making the allotment of the country lies with the conference staff.

No country allotments will be given in person or by phone.

UNICEF will be deliberated in Hindi and is open to all schools.
Agenda for all the committees and the background guides will be available by 30th September 2008.

Registration Fee

Registration fee is fixed at Rs.1200 per delegate. The accompanying staff member (Advisor) also has to pay the registration fee of Rs.1200. This fee is inclusive of the 3-day lunch, the conference kit and the conference facilities. The conference fee for all the participants should accompany the registration form. Only DEMAND DRAFTS/BANK DRAFTS will be accepted and should be made payable to " Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram" payable at New Delhi. Registration fee once submitted will not be refunded. Cheques / Money Orders / Cash will not be accepted. Please do not staple the Drafts. Kindly mention the name of your school behind the draft.

How to Register?

Please complete the DPSMUN-2008 Registration form and return it to: Principal, Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram, Sector XII , New Delhi - 110022, latest by 5th September 2008. On receiving the registration form and the registration fee the countries will be allotted. You will receive confirmation of your conference registration and country allotment via email as well as postal mail.

Dress Code

The National Costume of the country assigned / Western Business Attire (no casuals allowed).

ID Cards

All participants are expected to wear their I.D. Cards during the conference. These shall be provided to you in the Conference Kit. In case of loss or misplacement, a new I.D. Card would be provided on a payment of Rs.100.

Awards & Certificates

Judging of awards will be based on the following criteria adopted by UNA-USA MUN.

  1. Represents the assigned country realistically, conveying a thorough understanding of the country's policy;
  2. Conducts oneself in a diplomatic manner during formal and informal debate;
  3. Shows willingness to negotiate through topics for the benefit of the committee;
  4. Conveys knowledge of United Nations structure and function;
  5. Understands and follows the rules and procedures adopted at DPSMUN which are listed from the UNA-USA MUN rules of procedures;
  6. Displays the ability to verbally present policy, ideas and questions during committee.

The following awards will be given:

  1. Best Country Profile (Awarded to the delegation which presents the best compiled country profile. Research work, presentation of information and aesthetic quality of the profile will be assessed.)
  2. Best Position Paper (This award will be given to the delegate who writes the best position paper in each specific committee)-not applicable to SC and HSC.
  3. Best Delegates (This award will be given to outstanding delegates in each committee).
  4. Best Leader (Awarded to the delegates who stand out as a bloc leader in the committee-not applicable to SC, HSC, CCPCJ, UNICEF & WFP).
  5. Awards for International Press-(Best Editor, Best Reporter and Best Caricaturist).
  6. Secretary- General' s Award (This award will be given to the best delegation which excels in all areas).

All delegates will be given Participation Certificates.

Accommodation

For accommodation details, please refer to the REGISTRATION FORM.
The reservations will only be made after receiving letters from the Principal of the participating school - We would appreciate if you could kindly state the requirement in the REGISTRATION FORM. Please state the exact arrival and departure dates by 10th November, 2008 to avoid any confusion. Cancellation will be charged as per accommodation policy at the time of cancellation. Participating schools are free to make their own stay arrangements.
